Site Navigation: The Foundation for Navigating Your Website to Success
Stoney G deGeyter for Search Engine Journal
Website navigation is a lot more than a few words at the top of your website. These links increase the usability of your website, internal link rank distribution, and indexation. Much of your website’s authority gets passed through the links in your navigation. This article talks about different ways you can lead users to different areas of your content. These sections are customer-focused, company-focused, and ecommerce features. Making sure you have clear paths forward so people can find out information about your products, products, and how to contact you.
One of the first questions I ask when performing a website audit is if the visitor saw nothing more than the navigation portion of the website, would they know if the site will satisfy their need?
Key Takeaways:
- Most website administrators make the mistake of expecting their users to know exactly where to go once they land on the website. Make the navigation so clear that someone that’s not interested in your company would know exactly what you do and offer.
- If you are going through a navigation redesign, test it out on a small group of people from all kinds of backgrounds and ask them to perform a task. This will help you uncover bottlenecks in the nav.
5 New Social Media Platforms Marketers Should Watch in 2019
Pamela Bump for HubSpot Blog
We all know that social media is a pivotal part of any marketing strategy, but how are things changing? Well, not much as it turns out. HubSpot’s social media experts say that we should be focusing on older social platforms. Having said that, it’s always a good idea to have an understanding of the platforms on the rise. There are five other players in the social media game that may not be scaring the social media giants just yet, but anything can happen.
To make sure you’re balancing your time between new and old channels accordingly, focus on growing and refining strategies on the successful platforms, then timebox an hour or so once a month to look into newer platforms.
Here are the five social platforms they mention:
- TikTok
- Caffeine
- Lasso
- Houseparty
- Steemit
Take this chance to become the expert of an early emerging platform. Maybe the platform won’t turn out to be the next facebook but if it does, people will be turning to you to help them navigate it.
Key Takeaways:
- We know that it would take a lot for one of the mentioned platforms to become a major player in the social media game, but it’s something worth watching. Pay attention to app growth and prioritize which network you want to understand first.
- Take some time to understand what’s primitive about these new apps. Are these features other social medias could add to their platform?
